Can not using lube during masturbation cause damage to your penis? And what lubes would you recommend?

Not as long as you don't rub yourself raw you'll be fine. Vaseline is a well known one. .

Vaseline is a good one to use, mainly because if your parents see it in your room they're not suddenly going to think you're masturbating.. but it you had KY lubrication in your room, its quite obvious!

Yeah I agree with Anthony and rok.my.sox. Vaseline is a great lube, although it's very messy to clean up. As long as you don't rub so hard that the skin gets raw or red, there's no problem with masturbating without lube.

and never use vaseline as a lube when your putting on a condom, it changes the molecular structure and it'll cause the condom to break

Yup exactly, because it's oil-based. Use a water-based lube like KY or get a lubed condom (comes lubed) if you want to use a condom for sex or masturbation =]

Nah that's not dumb. Using lube makes masturbation more intense - some uncut guys don't use it at all, but most cut and uncut guys use lube because it just feels better! :D

It shouldn't damage your penis as long as you use safe lubes so don't use stuff like shampoo because it well I tried it and lets just say it dosn't work. However if you use something safe like vaseline I am 100% sure that you will be fine. :D

Thanks for pointing that out! Don't use shampoo or soap to masturbate with as a lube. It could cause cracking and peeling of the skin and can make your dick feel all leathery. So yea, don't use soap or shampoo :P

Yeah, exactly.
Other than for some cut guys who have very little shaft skin to move, chafing shouldn't be a problem. Nature does a fine job of providing lubrication. It's not unsafe.

For those of you that think Vaseline is messy to clean up, lotion is always an option. I mean like hand lotion for dry skin. Like someone mentioned earlier, it's easy to hide in plain sight ("but mom, my hands are REALLY dry!" :D ) . Also, stuff like this (Lubriderm is the best in my opinion :D ) is NOT MESSY to clean up; it basically is just absorbed by your skin so the only cleanup needed would be for your semen.

i'm uncut and i don't use lube. the friction that cut people have doesn't exist for me, however by not using lube i do get minor skin irritation. i think its a good idea to use lube if cut, but you can get away without if uncut.

I'm also uncut and though I have tried lube a couple of times, I didn't get any enhancement because the foreskin provides enough gliding.
May I ask where u get chafed? Is is on the inner lining of the foreskin (which gets exposed when you are pulled back)? Once or twice I have experienced some tenderness right behind the head, and have to go easy.
