Yesterday I whent to the pool and decided to see if I could swim underwater with my eyes open and no goggles, It whent fine but after about 2 hours at the pool my eyes started to burn as if they were being blasted with fire (I assumed i have a slow reaction to chlorine) after gwetting home, I looked in the mirror and noticed my eyes were red and slightly swollen, but today the swelling is worse and the redness in my eyes is mostly gone, my moms worried I'm allergic to the chlorine in the pool. does anyone know what this is?

I suggest you take a visit to the doctor because they'll probably tell you a lot more than we can. However, it may be an allergic reaction. It's still best to be safe and see a doctor.

I would suggest seeing a doctor as well, it doesn't sound too serious to me but it still does sound like an allergic reaction in my opinion. It wouldn't be that uncommon to have one to chlorine, especially in a part of the body which is more "internal". Chlorine, the element, is a gas poisonous to humans. Obviously, the chlorine in the pool has been dissolved and is perfectly safe to swim in, but even a minute amount of concentration can cause an allergic reaction if someone IS allergic to it. So, yeah, I'd ask your doctor to be sure.

Its very common to happen, especially since you are not use to Chlorine in your eyes. It also depends on how much chlorine was in the pool. Public pools have very very large amounts of chlorine to kill germs etc, compared to a backyard pool. So the pool you were in may have had alot in it.
If it doesn't start to improve - visit a GP :)
