Hey guys,
So I work at a branch of a major company called 'Baker's Delight',
which is a massive bakery company in Australia..
And I have been working sales staff for about 4 -5 months, until one day the manager came up and asked if I'd want to try out baking as one of the bakers left without notice.. I said sure, why not, even though I've had no experience with baking or cooking any food for that matter..
So she put me on some baking shifts (early as in the mornings, 3AM starts sometimes) and I figured I would just be helping by cleaning messes and moving things around.. But wow, completely the opposite.
I am basically working as a baker now, which people do years of experience to achieve this...
I was kind of just thrown into the baking industry all of a sudden, (Mind you, this is a major company, they don't really hire inexperienced bakers, let alone 16 year old kids as bakers!)
Do you think this is slightly odd that I have all of a sudden got so much responsibility for so little experience? And I by-passed the system while thousands of other learning people would kill for this job..
I am quite confused... :\

I do find that a little odd, but it is obvious the manager has a great deal of confidence in you as an employee to approach you like that and ask if you would want to try out baking. I would think that they approached you originally just to fill the position, and then were impressed with the job you did and allowed you to remain in that position. While it is odd, these things do happen. So, if you enjoy the job and are good at it, I would say just continue to do so!

Hey thanks man, I never looked at it in a positive way like that.. Yeah, I must be doing a pretty nicely if they want to keep me there instead of actual bakers!
