Crab lice usually infect a new host only by close contact between individuals, usually through sexual intercourse. Parent-to-child infestations are more likely to occur through routes of shared towels, clothing, beds or closets. For this reason, infection in a young child or teenager is not necessarily indicative of sexual abuse, although this possibility should be kept in mind.[6][7] Adults are more frequently infested than children. As with most sexually transmitted pathogens, they can only survive a short time away from the warmth and humidity of the human body.

So yes. You can contract grabs for shared towel. Also it does not need to be family. You could a flat mate you could share a towel with. The example above was to merely show you it is possible.

That is actually a debatable thing. Many say that because crabs won't live long away from a host. E.g a human then they die. However it is possible. It is an unlikely factor I will admit. However it is possible.
Also you could Google that like I did. Some believe it to be true but I went on the first 3 websites, excluding "Yahoo Answers" and they said it is possible although rare.

Seeing as they live in your hair just shave and you are fine
They were a big issue in places before the late 90s when hair was normal
