Should I listen to music when I run?
If you do listen to music, what kind of earphones do you use(in-ears, earbuds, headphones, sports clips)?

I'm going to be running at my park which is wide and is open so everyone is visible. I just want to be safe while running and not get attacked or anything.

music can be a great way to keep yourself focused and make the traning more fun, so if you enjoy listening to music, do it.
when it comes to headphones you should have some that won't fall off as when you run you tend to move head around quite a bit wich will cause them to fall out :P
id say, use what feels confortable and don't fall off so you need to do alot of unnecessary stops.

i myself love to use headphones when im out longboarding,

This is a really stupid question, it's like asking "Should I wear Nike brand shoes or Addidas?".

Do whatever you want, if you like rap music listen to it, if you like pop music listen to it. Headphone brand doesn't matter, Dr Dre Beats are a good one.

Oh, and be careful, running in a park has never been more dangerous! Try investing in a bodyguard to protect you from yellow grass or a sidewalk crack

Yeah do what you want, when my friends and I run we always run with one in and the other one out. Allows you t still be aware of what's around you such as traffic, someone screaming for help, or someone sneaking up behind you.

Yep, go for it. It's relaxing and makes the time go quicker. I find it's quite nice to listen to upbeat music while exercising because it gives you motivation.

I always listen to music when I run. It makes time go by faster and gives you something to focus on other than how your legs feel. I try to listen something upbeat, and since I tend to run in time with the music, something that I can keep up with, but isn't too slow.

I have made a playlist of my best upbeat music just for workout! I use it for my house gym, and running! And I use regular earbuds, and never come off when I'm running!

I like the sports clips , but have a pocket sewn into my beanie and baseball cap for my music gadgets ipod mp3player so i dont need wires trailing , I do 3 5mile runs a week. Not everyones choice but check out Lionel Hampton he was a bigband legend in like the 30s 40s and I can run all day listening to that.

Don't listen to music if you are running outside. People looking to assault you will go for you if you are cut off from reality. However, if you are on a treadmill then do it! Try to choose songs that are either 90 or 180 BPM as the ideal rate of stepping is 180 steps per minute. I find that in-ear earphones don't fall off as easily as the bigger ones, and apparently the ones that clip behind your ear are even better, though these take some getting used to.

Good luck!

I do, I have Marshall in ear head phones which I use when I run and the design helps keep them in my ears. I very rarely use them though, as you obviously can't use them in competition and I do a lot of training on my treadmill, which is iPod compatible :)

Listening to music while running is a great idea. That way, you can forget you're running and in a bunch of pain hahaha.
