Self Respect and Anti Bullying Tattoo

For a long time when i was younger, i was bullied by a large number of students in my school and even though i told administrators, they did nothing. They made fun of me for my ethnicity, me being adopted, and their perceived notion of my sexual orientation. Ever since then, i have been struggling to regain my self confidence. The best way i've found to do this is by helping other people get through similar situations.

Right after my 16th birthday (in november), I'm planning on getting a tattoo on my upper arm that says "if you have revolutionary potential, then you have a moral obligation to make the world a better place". Its gonna be in a font that I'm hand drawing then having copied exactly onto me. Its not going to be obnoxiously large and not colored. I wanted it so it will always remind me that its my duty as a human being, and that respect and love is a permanent tattoo on ever person's spirit.

Do you think this idea is stupid? And do you think i should wait a little longer before i get it. Both of my parents support me all the way on this one, because they know what i went through and its more therapeutic and artist than a rebellious statement.

No, I don't think that's a 'stupid idea' at all. It sounds like you put a lot of thought into it, it has great meaning for you, and tells the tale of what you have gone through. If you like it, and your parents are supportive of it, then do what you feel is right.

i HATE HATE HATE my old school, by the time i left, i had enough "acquaintances" to count on one hand, because people made up hurtful lies about me. I didn't feel comfortable telling anything to adults, i was depressed, and felt like a total loser. I still sometimes feel like a loser, it hasn't gone away. Thats why i love art so much, because its my way of talking to people without having to respond ;)

Did you move or transfer or something? And that school sounds fucked up. You probably shoulda at least told your parents.

yeah, i changed schools. I was in 6th grade at the time getting bullied by kids in my grade, and people as old as 11th grade. I was so scared to tell my parents because i convinced myself i was everything they were calling me because i heard it all the time every day. I felt like a loser and i thought i was one, so i didn't tell my parents because i was too embarrassed for them to feel like i was week and that they had a loser for a son. Now i've realized that that was the worst thing to do, because they bullying has really effected me.

nah it's ok, i believe that everything happens for a reason, and everything that happens to you shapes you as a person. So if it didn't happen to me, i wouldn't be as strong as i am today.

yeah, they do now, and they feel bad i didn't tell them.

Hey in fairness there's a hell of alot i don't tell my parents. For instance they dont know I've tried to kill myself 4 times. We all have skeletons.
