How is a sport "gay"?

Okay so ive been seeing people labeling certain sports as "gay". I don't understand how a sport can be "gay". What makes a sport "gay" cause I play tennis and soccer and people on here say they are "gay". And to people labeling others as "gay" cause they play a sport how is that right? People should do what they want to do and what they love so I don't like people saying oh why do you play that sport it's "gay" or oh you play (insert sport name here) you are "gay". So throwing up the deuces to the haters peace out cubscouts ;)

Of course a sport cannot be "gay." Immature kids use it as a way to say something is unpopular or "unmanly." Really, it makes absolutely no sense. Do what makes you happy.

I think soccer is pretty manly, tennis, eh I don't really know what to think. I like it though.

People think some sports are gay, because you don't always get physically hurt like football. Most people who say soccer or what not is gay, are the people who play heavy contact sports like wresting or football.

I actually don't know why people call sports gay, but I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the sports you play... Just look at the professionals in those sports and look at their partners... I don't think they are gay with such hot girlfriends/wives ;)

but anyway, when people call a sport gay, they are not implying that everyone playing said sport is gay. its just that a sport like wrestling has many elements that could be considered "homo-erotic"

Okay no sport is "gay." Because way too many people label sports (which is absolutely ridiculous) that nowadays you remember the sport as that tittle. Like for instance Dance. So many people say it's a girl sport, and if a guy does dance it means he's "gay." This isn't true! Nor has it ever been true. One, dance is open to both genders, more girls do dance, because guys are too chicken because they feel like they will be labeled. And second, so many "straight" guys do dance! Some of the most famous male dancers are straight! I dance and I'm straight! So it's the people who want to take that sport, but is too scared they will be labeled, so they decide to label the sport.

People overuse gay as basically a derogatory comment nowadays, people always said that non-contact sports are 'gay' such as soccer/tennis/etc. My hockey team decided we were through with the bullshit in school and took the label on.

We'd walk around and tell people that hockey is the gayest sport out there, we slam guys into boards, hold our shafts and try to shove the puck in the goalies five-hole. We wore it with a badge of pride, gained us more then one confused look from the rest of the school.

You may not be gay for playing soccer, but you are still a Foot Fairy :P

Thanatos is right, "gay" is used as a derogatory comment on many things...sports, classes, movies, everything trying to demean it thinking that gay does the trick....As a gay boy myself, it doesn't bother me at all, and besides, even if there are gays involved in sports (which statistically there are in every sport) it doesn't make that sport itself gay....don't' stress bro...enjoy what you enjoy, don't let others tell you what to do with your own life....

yeah there's no "gay" sport. it's stupid, the way people use it. if a guy does dance, apparently some people think he's "gay". but what if a girl does a boy sport? they don't seem to say anything about that, it's so stupid
