There are many "over the counter" medications that can help prevent it over time. Neutragena (http://www.neutrogena.com/category/acne/acne+cleansers.do?nType=1) has a whole array of products which could be helpful to you.
And eventually, it will either go away completely, or become much more manageable for you.

I've been lucky to not have acne, but I use Avon pore penetrating cream, it has like little beads and is really ruff but makes my skin feel good:)

I use Biore "Face unclogging scrub" or something like that--comes in a tube, it's white with blue beads in it. It is a daily face wash and has helped a lot for me in clearing up my acne--it hasn't fully cleared it up but it has gotten a lot better than it used to be. Also, several of my friends take prescription medicine for it (as pills) and it has helped a lot for them. If your acne gets really bad I would try asking your doctor about that

There are some dietary adjustments that can be made to help with acne that I've found work. However, as with everything, everyone's body is different. Everyone's body will react differently to different things, so these aren't necessarily guaranteed to work for 100% of people, but merely suggestions that I've used to minimize my own acne when it was particularly bad.
If you get a decent amount of Zinc in your diet, this will help with acne. It reduces the oil in your skin, and helps repair scars and blemishes left by acne. It may also help with the formation of "spots", in that some say that acne is caused in part by a lack of zinc in one's diet. Peanuts are a good source of zinc, as are roast beef, lamb, and some seeds (Dried Watermelon, Pumpkin)
Eating prebiotic foods helps the digestive system process foods properly, and can reduce the formation of pimples themselves. There is usually a good selection of prebiotic yoghurts in your local supermarket. Also, water, watermelon, and green tea help with this in the same way.
Try to minimize the amount of oily foods you eat, as they promote inflammation and pimples.
Also, white flour can be one of the substances which can contribute to an acne flare up. Switch to whole grain bread in sandwiches, etc..

"Try Proactiv! America's #1 Acne Treatment System!"
Yea I use proactiv and it really helps my acne go away. It's probably just me cuz I'm lazy sometimes but I get annoyed by putting on the 3 steps everyday!!!! Gets annoying but I have to do it to keep my face acne free!
Also lettin you know, Face Washes and stuff like that, they are not just for women. Ugh it makes me mad when you only see women on acne commercials…

I guess you need a healthy and regular lifestyle, it does help you reduce the amount of your acne, but actually you dont have to worry about it, as long as you leave it alone and clean your face as often as possible, then i think it will be better :))

I know this is going to sound weird, but i just started using Dial antibacterial hand soap and its working really well. It reduces the swelling of new pimples within an hour and I haven't had any recent break outs.

I've had problems with acne for YEARS. I tried conventional treatments (store bought creams etc.) they just didn't work. I went to my doctor and she gave me antibiotics and cream. Almost cleared up fully now :)

I used to have acne. I tried Isotretinoin and all that, but what really worked with me was Noviderm Borérade Cl and Noviderm Boréade M. Don't know why, but going to the beach and swim in the ocean also helped a lot
