I know this thread isn't going to get any replies, pretty much the usual. Anyways, I feel like this album deserves all the credit it can get and if you're open to at least giving something you've never heard a chance, I strongly suggest giving the album PERIPHERY II: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL by PERIPHERY a chance. So far it's been the album of the year for me.

I'm sure at least one person has to like it. Check it out and maybe, possibly tell me what you think. Blah.

This isnt spam by the way, it's me giving a shout out for a group of guys that really deserve the hard work they've put forward and believe me when I say, I don't normally do this kind of thing.

Hmmm, they sound more like screamo metal than progressive metal (to me anyways). Yeah, I don't really care for them, I think I will take Dream Theater instead. :)

I find it funny how you think screamo metal is a genre. Also, they are prog metal, easily. One thing to learn about anything under the genre of "progressive" is it can drastically differ in sound but still be progressive.

I like Periphery, just haven't listened to them too terribly much.

Periphery are good, I quite enjoyed this album, it's fairly good. But I like Icarus better. Still Muramasa is my favourite song from the album.

Wow, I actually got replies. This is strange. Anyways, I'm glad you guys like what you have heard so far. They are definitely a progressive band and not a screamo or whatever you like to call it band. If I could recommend a song from this album, I'd recommend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6c8Cl3Hka0

That song shows you pretty much what the album is, apart from Scarlet which remains one of their most straight forward songs in terms of structure. I too honestly think this is their best work so far. Everyone has learned a lot from the last record and everyone has had their experiences and time needed. If you check out an interview with the guys, they too say they prefer this album because they actually had all the time they needed and it was all produced by the guys themselves, which meant that all total control was theirs.

Anyways, I'd recommend buying (purchasing) the album if you guys really like what you hear. The guys literally fund everything themselves, so it's a small bit of help.

Just a note: Petrucci soloed on this album. He wouldn't stick his mark on ay regular "Screamo" band. they also toured with DT, so...yeah.
