we know each other for about 3 years we have hung out a few times...shes given me a few signs she liked but never really said anything....i tried to make it obvious that i liked her but i dont think she noticed

You don't need a gf. You want one, probably badly. I went through a few years of this myself. When you find the right girl though, she won't see you as unattractive or shy, she'll see you as amazing. You can't rush love, you can't make it appear. When it does, you'll know it though. And when that happens, it is a truely amazing thing.

Yeah bro, i would just find a girl you like and if she is single and you are sure you like her just be casual and ask if she would like to grab a drink or something at some stage, if she says yes just (politely) ask for her number, then call her maybe the next day and organize a time. best if it was just the 2 of you but if she wants to bring a few other people still take it she might just be shy. oh and text her every now and again. not all the time but just ask her questions at times.
