Greetings,i have an ADLS connection and i download at 154-157 kbs max,but yesterday for some reason i was downloading something and it was like 350 kbs for a few seconds and actually it did download faster judging by the ,,size of the downloaded thing,, in utorrent,so i was wondering is there a limit of some sort that i can remove? Also,my school has the same internet speed (1 mbs or something) but it downloads around 800 kbs, because it is in the center of the city i suppose,i tried a few stuff like changing the dns number, adjusting utorrent for max speed but none of it really works,so does anyone know something that could help?

You can't speed up your download, only try to ge to the max of your ISps download limit. Using microtorrent (utorrent) is going to give you inaccurate speeds. But anyway try using a different browser and as viv said try a download manager too as they tend to retrieve different parts of the file from different servers essentially speeding it up.

The easiest and most-likely-to-work method is by getting a faster plan, but you will probably have to pay more for that.

I've never had experience with ADSL before, only a Cable connection, but my connection is 50/5 so no where near ADSL speeds.
Make sure uTorrent, and any other internet applications are closed. With that slow of a speed, even programs like Steam, MSN etc. can slow down a connection.
If you want faster speeds in the long run, upgrade your connection.

If you were downloading off a torrent, I.e downloading for others, they can set themselves the speed they upload to you at.
Quite often my friend uses certain torrent websites and a program he uses he always sets his bandwidths to upload at 25KB as if he gives back to much it slows down his connections on other devices.
So even getting a faster plan might not help when downloading off of a torrents network as it is all about the people who are giving back the file and what they have set their bandwidth to go at.
Now if you were download for an NZB source generally that is all about your connection and download speeds for that you would have to get a better connection.
However if your prime source for downloading is torrents site then upgrading your connection might be a waste of money in the long run.
Also forgive if have mis read your post in anyway!

Not just that, but it depends on seeds too, if there are few, or a lot, so look for torrents with more seeders.
In uTorrent, Options -> Preferences -> Bandwidth, and you can increase number of connections.
Also, 1mb connection = 125 kbs, so...

Well to be honest. Yes Seeds count but not always. My friend uses torrents and sometimes there is only one seed and that person gives back at an unlimited rate. Where as you can have one guy who gives back at 25kb
So to be honest seeds don't always count but in most cases its more the merrier.

yeah I have Mobile Broadband (its a USB drive that lets me use the Web as long as i'm in range of a cellphone signal, for those of you who don't know) and its fast at times, while at tother times is extremely slow. (like 10 kb/s) I think I'll try downloadmanager, but can also depend on your proxy settings.
