View Full Version : Do you think their is a line between plastic surgery being good and bad?

I hope I phrased that right lol
So what I'm kinda meaning is, is do you think their is a line of it helping someone and being to much? What do you consider to much? I know many people believe that you should just accept your looks and do nothing about them. What would you change about yourself (aesthetically)?
My opinion:
Like, my parents believe plastic surgery should only be done if you want it or if it makes you feel good, but I believe it should be done when necessary. Like, if a girl had a huge, huge nose, and she felt self conscience about it, I believe if she wanted to, she should get plastic surgery. If it makes her feel better about her nose, she should get it. I believe also, that of its not necessary, you shouldn't get it. Like old people getting Botox, I don't like that, because they should accept their age, and they'll never run from their age for long until the Botox wears off. Tbh, I would change sooo many things about my face and body, but I know I would only change a few things. I have BDD, so I would only change things, I felt needed to be changed my whole life.

I think it should be done if theres a real problem because of a birth defect or getting hurt. I agree with you. I saw a woman on TV who had so many surguries her face looked like a cat.

i think people should be able to look like whatever they want as long as they don't endanger themselves or others

^ i think it helps u to be more comfortable with yourself if there is something bothering u or not right with ur face or body then u should do it but some people do it too much and thats bad , but if there is nothing wrong with u, why to change? some people do it to get bigger lips or etc and it looks fake on them like that woman i saw on tv she looked like a cat and it wasnt even pretty, it looked awful!

I have no problem with people going under plastic surgery. If they don't like their body they should be free to change it as much they want. Later on, if it looks awful and fake, they brought it upon themselves. I am in no position to judge.
My personal view is different, though. If I ever got with somebody looking to go through plastic surgery, I'd try to talk him out of it and explain him it's not needed and that everybody is beautiful, in their own way.
However, if there was a serious need for a plastic surgery (like a genetic disorder, accident, etc...) I would change my mind.

If someone has a genetic disorder, had an accident or a serious illness, then plastic surgery is perfectly fine I think. And if someone doesn`t like a part of their body, then plastic surgery is fine too. It`s only when people start to go over the top and look like cats, dolls or cartoon characters, then plastic surgery isn`t good.

Maybe a bit if it's necessary.

I don't think it should be done... because I think everyone should be happy with the body the body that they were given :) I know there will ALWAYS be something that you don't like about yourself (eg. If you have the most lush blonde curly hair you want it jet black and straight.) but don't go under the knife because you have thin lips, or small breasts, it's not worth it :) It really proves how many women are prepared to go under the knife for bigger breasts, aka. PIP implants, and over (I think it was) 10,000 women had them, which were (and are) extremely dangerous as they can just break inside you, which causes mattress foam to go around your body which is toxic. .-. If your depressed about your body, I think maybe you should speak to a doctor rather than go straight into surgery, but if you want surgery, I think it's your choice, but I'd advise you not to.

You do realize that you just contradicted yourself, right. A girl with a big nose, wanting a nose job, because she feels self consious about it. Is the same thing as an old person wanting botox because they feel self consious about their wrinkles. That being said i personally don,t care about it. If you want it go for it.

The girl with the nose would probably be made fun of vs an old lady having wrinkles, she wouldn't be ridiculed

Their money and their body.
Who are we to criticize how they choose to spend it and how they want to look like? If somebody wants to spend millions to look like a dolphin then go for it.

This.
Though I think everyone is beautiful in their own way, if they want to then let them.
Personally, however, I would really only do it to cover up an accident, not something I was born with.

My viewpoints:
It's fine if the person
1. Got in a bad accident
2. illness or disorder
but generally it's their body and pretty much if they want to get plastic surgery to look like a doll, let them.

Haha, don't know. I've never asked how much it will cost to make me look like a dolphin. Anyway, I don't want plastic surgery but I agree that it is an elective surgery and if people want to waste their money on it then they should be allowed to. I think insurance will only cover plastic surgery if it is helping a burn or accident victim.

A nose job or something like that is ok. But when you change the way your entire face looks its too far

If there is a health issue or there's been some damage from say, burns and such then yeah go ahead. But not to just change the way you look because you think you're ugly. Everyone is beautiful :)

I think that plastic surgery is fine--if people want to change things about themselves and have the funding to do so, awesome. God knows I'd change a few things about myself were I able to.
I don't think their should be a "set limit" to what people can do to themselves--using the OP's examples, if someone is very disturbed by the appearance of their nose and wanted to change it, they can. Likewise if an elderly person wishes to hide their "aging" they should be able to, it's all a matter of preference, I know that when I am old, I don't want it to "show," people can age gracefully if they want, or try and look young if they choose.
