Infection on penis

Okay, I'll try to be specific as possible.
I am diagnosed with herpes, but I'm not showing any other symptoms other than a redness and slight around the urethra and part of the head.
I was masturbating with a lotion I don't normally use, it smells like it was replaced with conditioner as well.
Could that be the problem, or does it look like i'm getting an outbreak of herpes?

Once. It does slightly, not really.

I think it was just the lotion so I suggest don't use but if things continue then it could be a flare up.
