View Full Version : What's your definition of physical beauty, what's your preference?

So I was reading an interesting article (well, more like a 5 page article) about what society deems as beautiful. It said that non Asian men's preference in women was blonde hair while Asian mens preference was dark haired women. It also said that facial symmetry was very important and could determine what type of men or women you like. Like in Asian countries, small feet was a sign of beauty, so the men would make their women wear feet constricting shoes, so that their feet wouldn't grow. In England, men would make women wear corsets, regardless of damage to vital organs, to achieve the look of a low waist to hip ratio. Men's preference to women and their hair, is long and shiny. Because it showed good health. Gay men, mostly those who are "dominant" or "tops" had a preference of light skinned, hairless men. While gay men, who are "submissive" or "bottoms" had a preference of dark skinned (or tan), hairy men. The article also said that women determined their preference of hairy vs hairless, based off of their fathers. If their father was hairy then they want their husband or boyfriend to be hairy. If he was hairless, they want their boyfriend or husband hairless. Oh, and another fun fact, Jessica Alba is considered to have an average facial structure compared to other women. It had also said that more beatiful men and women, led happier lives and many people are attracted to them for many reasons, one being confidence. Here's you go if your willing to read the full article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_attractiveness).
Alright, after all that. What are your physical attractions to women/men and what do you deem as perfect? Also, what is your attraction to men/women attitude wise? Before answering the question, please specify your sexuality (this question might not work for bis, but you can still do it, it might be a bit harder) (I'm not talking about the eye height or anything that complicated, but do you prefer tall men/woman, short, hairy men/women, hairless, fair skinned, dark skinned or tan, etc)

To me, someone who's beautiful is someone who has nice hair and a good looking face. Body doesn't matter to me in beauty. When it comes to looks, I pay less attention to that but I obviously have my preferences. Well, I'm Bi but heading way more towards guys so I guess you can say I'm gay. For me, I've always liked average height or tall guys. Light skinned or tanned. Hairless. Besides the head hair obviously. In the case of how my dad is hairy or not, he is. For some reason, I never liked the sight of hair. Specifically on the back, chest, stomach or private areas. When it comes to hair color, I've always liked dirty blonde/blonde, light brown or brunette. Black sometimes gets my attention. I never really liked muscular guys. A skinny guy with some muscle and a little fat on the tummy cute. Or a chubby guy is fine with me. I'm a virgin so I would say I'm in between with being a bottom and top for now. I've always preferred medium sized feet on someone. Now, if their personality does not click with me, I won't give two shits about how they look. Meaning if they have an attitude, are usually mean or we just don't seem to click, I won't care if they're beautiful. That's all I could think of for now.

To be completely honest, I think something's wrong with my brain and that I'm blind to physical beauty. I seriously do not think anything of anyone's attractiveness until I get to know them. It's all neutral until then.

I'm straight. I'd say that my girlfriend is pretty close to perfect. interestingly she is nothing like any of the other girlfriends i have ever had. Also i wasn't really that attracted to her when i met her because i didn't think she was my type. the attraction seemed to happen once i got to know her more.
She is shorter than me, which i like (i'm only 5'6 right now). she has long hair. really long hair. she always looks just a little bit messed up. i don't like when girls have totally perfect hair and make up because its like you can't touch them without messing it up. she's blonde but hair colour isn't really something i would consider making someone attractive or not. This isn't a physical thing, but i think the way she dresses makes her more attractive to me. she's kind of unique compared to everyone else we know. the only thing that makes her not completely perfect is that she is too skinny. she has practically nothing to fill a bra with, but actually i have found myself being more attracted to small breasts now.
Attitude totally makes a difference. Someone might be nice to look at but your not going to want to be around them if they're vain/boring/nasty. i like someone who is nice, wants to be with me but isn't all clingy - like wanting to spend every single second with me, they've got to be interesting, have at least a couple of things in common with me, be somewhat confident and not play stupid mind games. attractiveness to me is an overall thing, like looks and personality combined, and just some invisible chemistry that i seem to have no control over.
i totally lol'd when that article said "Research has shown that some men enjoy viewing womens breasts." Really? they needed to do research to discover that?

Ehhhh to be honest i'm pretty into caucasian. Not gonna say that some people with darker skin can't be attractive, but the majority of the time they're not that attractive to me. Obviously into men too.... my preference in sex would be top so I guess the article is pretty much right on for me. Hairless, light and young is all good.

I don't really care bout looks.
All the girls at school call me Dimples and pinch my cheeks and call me cute.
Which is frustrating because the girls all go for the hot guys.
So I get to now a person before I judge them on there looks.

I've always had a thing for girls with freckles. Light colored eyes, and fairly shorter than myself. Curves don't really matter to me much.

This isn't a "girls are most beautiful when..." thread, it's how are they beautiful, what makes them physically beautiful, a white smile? Straight teeth?

Well personally, my ideal guy is tall (at least 6ft), a light covering of body hair/stubble, soft, thick hair, lovely deep coloured eyes, and sort of toned but not too adonis like, so maybe a bit of a belly but not a full on pot belly.
I'm not this picky honest, that's just my dream guy :P

To me, someone who is attractive is someone who takes care of their appearance (as i am quite fashion concious) So someone who has well groomed hair, wears nice clothes and looks confident is very attractive. Someone who is taller than me, but not too tall because i'm quite short (5"1) because him being taller shows that he can protect you. And a well defined face, accentuated cheekbones and jaw line, because this shows masculinity. I prefer someone with light skin (because I am very pale, and i wouldnt want to be envious of their tan) and light brown/ blonde hair. When it comes down to hairyness, my dad is hairy but i prefer people with less hair, hair of the stomach area is attractive to me though. And the body, I dont like guys that are really muscly, nor guys who are skinny, i prefer someone who is toned, you can tell they look after themselves but they arent juicers.

Personally (I'm str8 but I can identify a handsome man when I see one, I'm not some homophobe who hides behind the str8 label, my brother IS gay) I prefer short blondes. I mean brunettes are still sexy but blonde is the sexiest hair color out there for me. Redheads or dark hair, okay but depends how red and how dark. Also, I don't think any man wants a hairy WOMAN...just puttin that out there lol...and eye color, I love blue eyes but green eyes are hot too, grey eyes are unique cuz I don't see very many and brown eyes are really cute when they are really warm or really dark. Skin color, doesn't matter to me completely...I had this crush on an african american girl a couple years back and she was REALLY dark skinned. Super funny, easy to be around, nothing like the stereotypical obnoxious black girl i can't stand. As for curves vs fat, idc rlly. If you are interested in me and have a great personality, hey how's it goin. But if ur nasty, mean, spiteful, and just downright awful cuz ppl don't like you or some shit, bye. I don't dig mean.

i can only tell if someones physically attractive if im actually looking at them face to face. pictures can be deceiving to the eyes. but its different for everyone, the hottest girl in the world to one person could be the ugliest to someone else

I personally always have had a thing for girls with lighter skin color than me. Curves are like what define a women for me, I don't like them too big nor too skinny just in the middle. Eye color is meh, as long as youu can see I'm fine. Girls that are shorter but not too short is always a good thing. What I mainly fine as a major turn off is hair. Like I could deal with a little hair on arms, legs, ect. But once I see peach fuss on the upper lip major turn off!

Okay I can agree with the body hair thing lol but what I really focused on is...if a girl is blind, you wouldn't date her? That's kinda prejudiced.

Mhm. Well... I guess I'm going to give my definition of beautiful girls. I am not sexually attracted to anybody. So... here goes :P
I don't mind about a person's ethnicity. I guess I like eyes the best. Pretty, intelligent eyes, and a nice smile.

Well I didn't mean it in that way, what I really meant is as seeing no preference over eye color. c:

Physical beauty.... lets see. Someone with blonde or dark hair, a good smile, strait teeth, shorter than me. (I'm 6 feet even.) A girl with that flat stomach thing is nice too. Honestly, Breasts don't matter to me.
(I look at personality more than physical beauty.)

I like my men tall. 6 feet and up..since im about 5'7. well built, big arms, expansive chest, broad shoulders and muscular back.. You dont have to have abs. but I like it to be toned. V shape isnt necessary and doesn't really matter, but i wouldn't protest to it. I'm more partial to rough looking men. as for facial features.. smile, nice straight white teeth and full-ish lips. facial hair is fine, i dont want a beard. Straight nose, strong jaw, high cheekbones, not super bushy eyebrows.. full head of hair... I dont like for his hair to be long. like on his forehead or past his neck. clear skin, tanned.. HAHAH THIS IS MY DREAM GUY.. soo im not saying that the guy im going to marry is going to have to have all this.. just more or less.. LOL, just a personal preference. Other than that.. long lean but muscular hands and fingers...deep set eyes.. deep voice.
