What context and why would you want one? Unless you're referring to the Hindu symbol (卐)

Even if you do not consider yourself prejudice, many members might feel offended or triggered. Since VT is a help site with a lot of teenagers wiho have different sensitivities, I am going to go with a negative on this one.

By the time the picture was taken it wasn't illegal to wear that kind of clothing. Now that there are laws that say it's illegal to use this symbol (honestly I think it's stupid) and no I don't post the picture until mod says I can.
if you want to look at the picture type in google image search "Sid Vicious nazi" it's the third picture from left. It's a close up.

卐 yep that Nazi symbol.
It isn't a Nazi symbol, it's a letter and symbol of Hindi. If you're tossing around symbols that are associated with hatrid and prejudice you should try to respect the meaning.

You find a symbol of Genocide, repression and hate awfully amusing.

I still stand by what I said and say, go safe and not use it. The "shock factor" isn't worth the risk of it being a trigger to somebody on here.

And yes I respect it but does it mean I need to avoid it?
No, it's a Swastika.
Ya now people think it's repression and hateful thing. and originally Nazi took the symbol to use and they didn't create it or anything.
Now that it's illegal to use it's like against the norm or something.
Honestly I think it's just a symbol right now, Nazis don't exist anymore, war is over, all that is pass, why we aren't allowed to use it anymore?
After all it's a symbol and who did the stuff are people If I put a shirt that has nazi symbol on it and go walk on street. Does this make me nazi or a guy who hates Jewish people? support Nazism? no it doesn't.
The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. The swastika literally means "to be good".
Following a brief surge of popularity in Western culture, a rotated swastika was adopted as a symbol of the Nazi Party of Germany in 1920. The Nazis used the swastika as a symbol of an alleged Aryan race. After Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in the 1930s, a right-facing and rotated swastika was incorporated into the Nazi party flag, which was made the state flag of Germany during Nazism. Hence, the swastika has become strongly associated with Nazism and related ideologies such as fascism and white supremacism in the Western world and is now largely stigmatized there. Notably, it has been outlawed in Germany if used as a symbol of Nazism. Many modern political extremists and Neo-Nazi groups such as the Russian National Unity use stylized swastikas or similar symbols.

I repeat myself, it does not matter if YOU YOURSELF are not prejudice. There ARE other members on here who might have gone through racism due to being Jewish and can be triggered. You don't really need it as your avatar, and it's better safe than sorry.

You asked a question, and got an answer. It's not that big a deal to not use the Nazi symbol on a website where teens feel safe to go for help and support.

>No, it's a Swastika.
But you just said "卐 yep that Nazi symbol." which I took to mean you didn't have full respect towards the symbolism it brings to the site by calling it as such. Also, look at the last paragraph you posted. Why do you want to be associated with such barbarism?

Not to mention it brings a more radical flare to the site, while personally I could care less about Swastikas in general, I do care about what exists in the community and what how some members may react.

I don't, oh so you're saying I'm neo-nazi? if you think so you're incorrect about that.
then you may ask why did this guy wear the t-shirt back then.
Because he was a punk rocker and punk rockers do stuff like that to shock people.
that's what it's all about, it's not about the we disrespect the symbol or we don't understand what's it's about.
freedom of expression.... thats what he stood for. the swastika is a symbol of power among other things, and dates back to before the egyptians... the nazis didn't invent this symbol! it was also used in native american culture. look it up, you'll be surprised.

If you're going to do it go ahead and do it as is your right. Senior staff may beg to differ with your opinion, however.

sure it has it's origin as a hindi/sanskrit symbol but if it's clearly being the nazi use (on an angle not square, in a white circle on red etc.) then no you shouldn't as it was used and still is used by hate groups and some of the most atrocious acts ever committed

Since you only want to use this image to provoke a reaction and to be controversial, you may not use it in your avatar. The number of victims of the Holocaust is estimated to be between 11 and 17 million Jews, homosexuals, black people, disabled people and other minority groups. I am absolutely sure that all of the groups I mentioned are present on this site; we are a help site and hence this is not the website where we will be sharing Nazi symbology. :locked:
