Would the lump be noticable? Both visually and when self examining?

Visually No it does not have to. Self exam yes but it might not be cancer it might just be a Hernia. If you feel a lump I incest GO TO THE DOCTORS IMMEDIATELY! Its a better chance of "getting rid" or the cancer in early development

Like Robert said, visually you will see nothing, but if you feel something that normal is not there, then go see a doctor, even if its embarressing, better to be safe then sorry.

Although, while Testicular cancer is the most common cancer for males 15-35 years of age, it is still remarkably uncommon amongst teenagers.

There are a wide range that describe lumps in the scrotum. For example, a variocele is a type of lump you might find which is caused by an improper back up of blood flow in the testicles which causes enlarged veins. This actually is quite visible in most cases and is described as to look like a small collection of worms. However, all lumps found are not necessarily visible but are usually found by feeling around during a self examination. Consult with a doctor to be sure if you find anything out of the ordinary.
