I know this is kind of old news, but here.

I'm sick of hearing stories about patent suing. The patents are for stupid, common shit too. A patent on syncing certain shit wirelessly? Really?

In other news: The EFF asks the US to put an end to software patents (http://translate.google.nl/translate?sl=nl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwebwereld.nl%2Fnieuws%2F110899%2Feff-eist-einde-aan-softwarepatenten.html&act=url)

I doubt Obama would care enough to do anything about it. I'm tired of software patent infringement cases.

Yeah for sure. First Apple is trying to be badass and ban a shitload of devices from selling all across the world but now Motorola is doing this. Fuck big companies. It's software. While there are millions of ideas for software, there will always be an overlap of the software in some cases.

Sheesh all these big companies these days, all they do is try to get the other company with patent infringement cases.

Well I have a PS3 and don't live in the USA so I could not care any less to be honest.
People overact to so many stupid things and this is one of them. Two major companies go head to head and this is what happens. People will have to just deal with the outcome.

Still not as god-awful as Apple's patent infringement lawsuits against Samsung for phones, tablets, and whatever shiz they also make. I mean, seriously? It is like they're trying to stop Samsung from even making handsets that have a touch screen and are rectangular! They couldn't have fetched it up further -_-.

It would ban the sale. Your Xbox would still remain in your living room. However, with the loss of money, Microsoft would have to shut down all Xbox Live servers.

That's dumb, everyone will have to resort to PSN instead of XBL and everything will be so complicated :/. I'm gonna miss Xbox lol

Well first they would freeze being able to buy xbox 360 online memberships. Then they would wait awhile until peoples subscriptions died off.
PS3 FTW

Well, I'm sure that Microsoft with all it's money would come to a settlement before they shut things down.
EDIT: oh and it might push them to come out with their next gen console sooner.

I.... What?
Microsoft doesn't make much money on the sale of consoles, their primary source of income is on the sale of the Live subscription itself, the sale of games, and the sale of DLC for the games. If the sale of the 360 were to be banned in the US, it would not hurt MS enough to shut down the XBL service, especially not with a new Xbox due out in a couple of years (Which the ban would not apply to).
Edit: To make it clear to everyone in the thread that thinks the Xbox and it's associated services would simply disappear because of this ban:
The ban would ONLY apply to the sale of the 360 hardware itself. All existing Xbox services, as well as accessories and games would still continue to be operated/sold.

Not hating on the 360 when I say this, but I think this ban thing on the Xbox is a good thing. I mean, I believe that Microsoft needs to be knocked off the high horse that their on.
