View Full Version : Good Hip Hop-ish Music?

So I need to find some new hip-hop music that has a good beat. I don't generally listen to it that much, so I need some help. Does anyone have any suggestions or a favorite song/artist from this genre?

The only thing I could suggest is Fort Minor, Duece and Hollywood Undead. As they're as close to hip-hop as I'm likely to get.

I'm not that into Hip-Hop and Rap but I would personally say that underground Hip-Hop and Hip-Hop from back in the early 2000's, 90's and before were really good. Much better than the shit being made today in my opinion. You should search up on it and check it out.

EDIT:
Here's some:
-Run-DMC.
-MC-Lyte.
-Immortal Technique.
-Fat Joe.
-Kid Cudi.
-Masta Ace.
-J. Cole.
-Notorious B.I.G.
-Outkast.
-The Game.
-Will.I.Am.
These are just artists I pulled out of my Ipod that pertain with Hip-Hop.

If you're just looking for a beat Right Above It by Lil Wayne and Drake has a really good beat and I like the song also, you could also check out empire state of mind by Jay-Z, Big Sean, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa.

Or you can go to the oldies with Dem Franchize Boyz with Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It. Such a classic song. =)

Hope I helped.

I mostly listen to a lot of British rap, not quite sure whether it counts as Hip Hop, but it's highly relative to it. Here's some decent British artists:

English Frank - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aWPELi13jw&feature=plcp
Lowkey - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISGeYafLSXg&feature=relmfu
Akala - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdrojUHZ1TY
K Koke (Older Stuff) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT4i1lf_sj8
Dru Blu - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iQIOGj2toU&feature=relmfu
Plan B - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isI2SS02vQ8

Of course you can't go wrong with Tupac, Biggie or Eminem either. Highly depends on what you prefer; I tend to prefer British rap because I can easily relate to the lives and lyrics of a lot of the rappers, for example.

I'm really not a hip-hop fan, but I do have some favourites
- Plan B has some hectic rapping and the music is pretty awesome
- Hermitude did some hip hop on their older records but moved more into instrumental dance, but with hip hop beats.
- 360 is awesome to dance to
