I am an active gun person. I am a gun nut. I believe that the best way to teach the you about guns it to have a public class for youths or a private youth club for it.

Please give me your opinion.

The clubs would involve
- weapon safety
- proper storage
- types of weapons
- different carry meathods so they know what to look for

again please give your opinions

and Mods if thisw is in the wrong spot please move it
this seemed the most appropriate place for it

Personally I think parents should teach their kids especially if they have guns in the house. Thats how I was taught. I mean maybe the club after after the parents just to have proof that they were taught, but I think its part of the parents responsibility to teach their children about gun safety.

Oh yes! Let's teach young kids and teens how to use potentially deadly weapons! There is absolutely nothing that could go wrong!

I mean, why do we need to train youths the basics of weapons when they only need those kinds of skills in specific situations that involve a certain amount of danger? Just let the police and the military train people how to use weapons, not a "fun" club. We already have enough idiots who know how to use a gun. Let's not create anymore, eh?

first of all guns are a tool and it is the person that uses said tool that will kill a person. If people are taught how to use them properly then that most likely will not be an issue.

As for parents teaching their kids I am all for that.

The point of the 'club' would be to enhance their knowledge of weapon safety. For example if a person only owns rifles then thats what they teach their kids. and the same said for any other weapon. The club would be designed around all weapons

and Parents could also help with the club

Since i am the probaly if not the biggest gun nut on VT i shall say this. This could be usefull...unless your like me. I never needed this i literally shoot with ex snipers and ex infrantry. i have grown up whole life with guns and now that i know so much about them i dont really need a course like that. There should probaly be an age limit too.

Yes, but what you didn't take into account is that people do stupid things. Especially kids and teens. Tools are dangerous and accidents happen, whether or not the person meant it or not.

Kids and teens don't need guns, so therefore there is no need to teach them about their "safety". Just don't involve them, ergo, no safety needed.

In my opinion guns should be banned and only be allowed for on duty active police and soldiers, not civilians.

Then you're an idiot. If every child owned a gun there would be kids shooting each other all over the place. Think about this stuff.

He sais they should have them he never said they should be allowed to carry them. Theres a big difference between haveing and carrying. I have alot of guns i dont carry them around with me (unless im somewhere i can like when im camping. youd never catch me with out if i was camping)

It doesn't matter, if they have guns available to them, it's not going to stop them from using them if they want to. Weapons are dangerous, and some kids and teens are irresponsible. It's these irresponsible kids that are going to be the ones causing the biggest problem if they have access to guns. Even worse if they actually know how to properly use them.

Well im a firearms person my self and truely believe that they need to be respected. As long as people use them correctly for the sport of shooting, or in the line of defense. I my self have shot MANY fiearms, and i know how to safely use them even though im 13. So yes i do think parents should teach kids about the correct use of a firearm.

Guns i have shot:
Remington 870
Henry .22
Browning bp99
Fn45
P90
And much more... Most famous gun i have shot is the military p90. if you dont believe me just friend me and ill proove it

maybe some people your age can use firearms safely, but not every single one. there are tons of irresponsible teens. and most definitely in no case should someone under 13 be allowed to have a gun.

So what you are saying is that Households where weapons are put on display when not being used are a hazard and that the kids, meaning teenagers, will take then and go and kill people?

My uncle on my moms side, He is an active hunter and when I wen to visit the first thing he told me was "one day this week you and I will shoot." He said this right infront of my mother and his wife. My mother is not a huge fan of weapons but she allowed me to go. She trusts my judgement in situation.

other parents are the same. Studies have shown where there are weapon safety courses there are knolageable teens and young adults. heck even 10 year olds .

The most important thing just like with a foreign language, if you start learning it at a young age you will be able to use it when you are older. Yes I am 17 and I live in Texas, but this has nothing to do with why I say all this.

Just like in the PD's you have dirty cops and as civilians we have criminals. there will be some people who use weapons for the wrong reasons and that is there choice and they will face the consequences for their actions.

Yeah i se where your coming from...but there still are problems with it. Just because they sit there and listen to it doesnt mean they're gonna apply it. you know the you should always keep your finger off the trigger and the saefty on till your ready to shoot? i dont do that(and no dont use a damn glock) because if im gonna shoot i want to start pumping rounds out as fast and accurately as i can
