Okay so my friend got me Sims 2 Double Deluxe for my brithday and I'm addicted ot it. I know that they make expansion packs and stuff but do you need more games to be able to install them? I'm just confused on how the whole thing works.

No, just the extension packs.

When possible, I recommend installing the expansion packs in order. The expansion packs build upon the previous one released and include patches for previous expansions. In theory, installing the expansions in the order they were released should save you a lot of problems in the long run.

The Sims 2" Expansion Pack Order:

"The Sims 2 University"
"The Sims 2 Nightlife"
"The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Open for Business"
"The Sims 2 Family Fun" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Glamour Life" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Pets"
"The Sims 2 Happy Holiday" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Seasons"
"The Sims 2 Celebration" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 H&M" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Bon Voyage"
"The Sims 2 Teen Style" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Free Time"
"The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design" (A Stuff Pack)
"The SIms 2 Ikea Home" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Apartment Life"
"The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden" (A Stuff Pack)

But since double deluxe includes the sims 2 nightlife and a Celebration Stuff pack, install rest, or just install ones that you want.

Is the sims even fun? I never understood the concept...

But on topic, you just install the expansion pack, and then it should load into the Sims 2 folder and you should somehow be able to access it through the game, which I'm not familiar with so I can't help any more than that, sorry!

You do not need more expansion packs to install double deluxe

You can install any expansion pack at any time with Double Deluxe installed on your computer.

Wonder.

Don't waste your money on the sims 3. The gameplay was fun at first but then got really boring. It's better for building though. Also, if you plan on using custom content, the sims 3 runs SLOW. Sims 2 works fine with a bunch of cc though.

To answer the original question: it actually doesn't even really matter what order you install them in. I've never had any problems with 2.

Also, sims 3 has a lot of bugs and patches that fix something in a previous patch to fix something in a previous patch. I blame it on the fact that it was made just by the main Electronic Arts instead of the Maxis branch.
