I absolutely love Reggae music. I like Marley, but Yellowman is my absolute favorite. If you haven't heard any of his look it up...he's amazing..Zunga Zeng is my favorite song by him. I also like The Itals and Bryon Lee. I love pretty much every kind of music.

If you really want to get to the ROOTS of what it really sounds like in Jamaican I suggest you do some research on the Nyahbinghi genre.

This material was recorded live at a week long Nyabingi ceremony in the Trelawney hills in 1982.

Dadawah's "Peace and Love" album is very acclaimed and known as the best in the Nyabingi genre. Very important album to listen to if you're a fan of the Jamaican music.

I haven't personally listened to this album in probably 4-5 years but my mom owns it. It's pretty rad.

Probably a few more things I should mention about pre-reggae in Jamaican music. You have the genres mento, rocksteady, and Jamaican Ska. Also, there's about eight subgenre's in raggae (Reggay) itself.

A good example of "Rocksteady" Jamaican music would be like the band The Paragons.

Bob Marley actually started out as Jamaican Ska, like most popular (roots) Raggae artists too. His album "The Wailing Wailers", very very underrated that nobody gives a shit about is a good example.

everyone shits on reggae even though jamaicans gave style to half these genres out here. k, huge dump now...

Kind of. I like Marley but I've never really looked into other artists. And I like some ska which has reggae qualities in it.
