I have a problem in my right arm called Erb's Palsey. Ever since I was younger I have picked at my nails. I cannot feel anything in my arm or hand, so the past few years the nail biting has escalated to where my thumb is literally peeled away. Its not nsil biting and its not really cutting. I do it without even realizing it! its gets down the the pink puffy fleshy skin! does anyone know what this is and how to stop it? my mom always freaks out when she sees it! she wont take me to a doctor instead she screams at me which makes it worse PLEASE HELP!

I think it's nail biting!
@After all, many people describe nail biting as a nervous habit. But anxiety is only one explanation for your nail nipping. You may be doing it for a number of other, less worrisome reasons — out of curiosity or boredom, to relieve stress, to pass the time, or simply from force of habit....!
@This site may help you! :)

Yes, usually it's just a habit and like all bad habits you have to break it. Try distracting yourself with something else, with nail biting you can get this disgusting tasting stuff to put on your nails, even lemon juice or something like that could work as well. I've bitten my nails for years usually peeling the skin and half my nail off as well as the cuticles and none of the things I put on my nails work, I just get used to them but you can always try, right?

Yes, I believe you can get stuff that is made especially for problems like this. Or you could just get something really bad tasting in general and put it on your nails. Something that won't harm you though. Maybe Vaselin? Try calling your pediatrician/doctor and ask if you can get a prescription for stuff like this at the pharmacy.
