What general requirements/courses do you need to become a train operator (namely a metro like BART)?

There's one thing you should know, and that is that you won't be getting very rich from it. Many can do it, and the salary has an inverse correlation to that number.

From BART's website. There's also other jobs here. (http://www.bart.gov/about/jobs/descriptions/index.aspx)
Thanks, that was actually really helpful! :D
Sounds like a boring job to me. Sitting by yourself driving in a circle all day.
I don't know, Rail is the one thing that interests me. I can't really see myself doing anything else other than working for a subway system or BART.

Just curious, a train operator for BART, or a train operator just in general?

I guess. Again, it's the one thing that really interests me. I haven't really had a 'click', so to say, with other areas of employment except public transit and maybe photography.

In response to your VM, the mean annual salary is about 50k, with the lowest earning 30k and the highest earning 60k. http://www.ehow.com/about_6330348_job-description-bart-train-operator.html
I guess it depends on how much overtime and how long you're with them? :s I'm not really sure hahah.
Thanks, again for the wonderful help! :D
