How do I tell my parents about him?

So I met this guy on an ipod app called thumb and we've been talking since January. We've been dating for 5 months. We both like each other a lot, but I don't know how to tell my parents about him because I'm not close to either of them and I'm scared of how they'll react. I'll be 18 in September and he just turned 17 last week, so if they're against it, it's not like they'll be able to keep me from seeing him for long. He lives 9 hours away, in Michigan, and I live in Wisconsin. We talk on the phone everyday and skype whenever we get the chance. I'm sick of having to keep it a secret, though. How do I bring it up in a conversation and how do I tell them?

Well to start with... you are about of that age where it shouldnt matter what your parents think. but taking into consideration that they just want whats best for you. Meeting people through the internet and through other sources can always be scary and had for parents to take in. But as Ive read from your post, you said you skpye and stuff with him so obviously you know what he looks like and if its really him. There are some crazy people out there these days that act like there someone their not to lure others in... be careful girl, and good luck with everything!

If you're not close to your parents then why do you need their validation?

she might just feel like she needs to tell someone. And her parrents might be even more distant if they found out she is in a relationship and they don't know.
