Wanna know what's ridiculous? Me getting up at 6 each morning to get ready for work, and a percentage of my check goes to a person sleeping in until 12 and has t works a day in their life!!! Ppl also will go down to the disability office and say "I stop breathing at night" um, hi welcome to the real world u don't breath when u: sneeze, yawn, or blink! If you didn't breathe at night you would be dead by now! Stop making excuses for yourself and get a job! If you are blind that is a reason to get a check each week! Even if your in a wheelchair you can sit at a computer!

ok, the only job i ever had was a paper round and i didn't have to pay tax for that. but when i do have a job i will be GLAD that my taxes are going help take care of people who are unable to work, because what else are they supposed to do? they're disabled and it isn't their fault. they still deserve to live tho. what are you guys suggesting? just toss them out on the streets? those people you think are lazy lowlifes, well you don't really know their story. maybe they have mental health problems.

my dad didn't have a job for like, 10 years. he was that lazy guy you are talking about who didn't get out of bed till 12. if he got out of it at all. there is no way he could have held down a job though. i think he got something like £130 a week in benefits. try buying food and clothes and paying your bills with that then having enough left over to save for holidays and christmas. you can't. and you can't run a car. so yeah you get to sit around watch tv all day but thats about all you can do. its not really a LIFE. you don't have choices like you would if you had a real job. and you're ripped off in the long run because if you need a fridge or something you can't afford then you have to buy it on credit, and because you don't have a job the interest rates are massive. so your £100 fridge ends up costing you about £250 in the end.

(my dad is on medication now so he can pass for pretty much normal and he has a job, its minimum wage but its still way more than he ever got on benefits)

i'm glad to live somewhere that everyone in society is taken care of whether they can work or not. i'll have a job as soon as i can and my taxes will pay back what money my dad was given in benefits.

What about the good majority of these people who have legitimate disabilities on the actual list of impairments, which was made up by The Department of Social Security, which impede work? The people who are too depressed to get up in the morning, the people who are in too much pain to work? The people who physically cannot work because of their injury or disability? Are they stupid assholes too? Are they just leeches who are totally worthless?

To cheat disability from SS isn't exactly easy, believe it or not. You need to make your claim to Social Security, and you will be approved or denied, most are actually denied the benefits at first. If you're accepted right off the bat, you have very clear and obvious disabilities supported by files upon files of medical records signed and supplied by multiple doctors, and if you're denied often times you have the same, the board just didn't feel as if your disabilities were severe enough. After you get denied, you have 60 days to file an appeal. Once that appeal is sent you need to get a SS lawyer, who will build a case for you, backed up by loads of medical records and proof that you have been to the appropriate doctors and specialists, supporting your case that you are, indeed, disabled. Your case is then brought to a judge in a hearing, where a bench decision will be made. Your case is presented and the judge then must decide if you will get your benefits or not. If yes, then you're in the clear, if not then you're back to the drawing board and need to build your case more, or give up.

This isn't a month or two long process or some walk in the park, breezy process. It's a very stressful, long, drawn out process, which can take two or three years sometimes, causing innumerable amounts of stress for the applicant. These applicants often have been out of work and basically have no money as a result of that.

To qualify for SSD or SSI (the two types of Social Security benefits) you need to pay into the system your whole life, through working. Money is taken out of your paycheck to pay for this, so that one day when you're disabled, you can get the money and benefits you need, just like these "assholes" need. The people who get the benefits worked enough to get these benefits, and they all don't get payed a nice hefty check where they can go traipse around town and spend as they please. It's not a big check and the amount you receive monthly depends how much you've paid into the system. So in the end of it, you get what you've gave.

With that bit of information are they still assholes? Are they still worthless leeches who just "grind your gears"? If so, I may as well just crawl back under my rock.

That is such a minuscule amount, there is no reason to worry about it.

At the moment, we are about 14 trillion dollars in debt. "Putting money back into the economy" isn't as simple as you make it seem. Say you buy an item. Let's make it a radio. When you pay for the item, a fraction of the money is going to the seller of the item, some to the manufacturer, and TAX. Now, say there is no tax. How exactly do you think the money from the radio will work its way into building roads, and supporting (lolagain) the wars you love so much?
