So back in my hometown, when dating, you have to date her a million times to become official but when I moved here in Canada. People ask "are you two dating?" and said once you're dating, you two have a relationship. I'm confused! which one is it?

VT HQ is a section where you can post questions about the site, not dating questions.

It's a matter of interpretation, how fast you two want to go and whether or not you want to be in a committed sort of relationship or just casually date.

You can date people without being in a relationship. I mean, if you want to define the word relationship, you have one with the person. However, no one can determine how official it is but the two people involved. Some people date for ages and the other person is still allowed to date other people freely. Some people date a few times then say they're in a relationship.

The key, if you're unsure, is communication with your partner about what you want and how fast you want it. If you're not okay with being in a "relationship", make sure they know you just want to be dating. That's perfectly fine. You just have to make sure that no one is beating around the bush when it comes to talking about these things especially because you're used to something different.
