Is there something wrong with me?

I'm almost 18 years old, fresh out of high school, and I
- have never smoked
- have never smoked weed or done drugs of any kind
- the only things I've ever gotten high off of are sugar, music, and excitement
- have never gotten drunk or go drinking every weekend or every chance I get (don't get me wrong; I'll drink once in a while, but I have only ever gotten a little tipsy)
- don't go to parties very often
- have rarely skipped class, and only when I've had a really bad day
- get really good grades in most of my classes (except for math)
- have only had 2 or 3 boyfriends and have been with my current boyfriend for 2 years
- am by choice still a virgin

However, pretty much every single one of my friends has done all of these, or at least most of them. Don't get me wrong; I'm not as much of a goody-goody as I seem. I've done quite a bit of stupid shit too.

Also, unlike my friends, I have a hard time letting people in because I suffered through a lot growing up, and it is also because of this suffering that I tend to be more quiet, shy, and reserved, whereas my friends are all bold and outgoing. I like to be by myself a lot more than they do, and I tend to keep to myself and bottle things up a lot more than them, too.

It's because of all of this that I'm seriously starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me, or if I'm a freak, because I've never done any of this stuff other than a few small exceptions. And like I said, all of my friends have done all of it or most of it. Actually, that applies to pretty much everyone my age I know.

But yeah, is there something wrong with me? am I a freak because of it?

A freak? No. absolutely not. Something wrong with you? No!! It's not clever to do things you don't want to just to be the same as 'friends'. Be yourself. If you don't want to smoke or get drunk, then don't. Still a virgin? Good for you, if that's what you want! It would be a better world if more people were like you!

Your no freak as far as I can see love, you are a sensible seeming girl who knows what she likes. If the things you've stated above are not your idea of fun thats that. You don't have to be wild and reckless to have a good time.

There is nothing wrong with you at all. It sounds like you're a pretty responsible person and that you have a great deal of respect for yourself and your body...those qualities will serve you well in the long run.

No, not at all. I've never done any of those things, either. The people I hang out with have never done any of those things, either, except like two or three, who I thoroughly enjoy talking to. But, I mean, no matter how interesting they are, it doesn't make me want to do all that. I'll do me and they'll do them.

You're unique among your group of friends. And sensible.

You are a sensible person, and you will have a better life because of it. If your friends get busted for weed, it'll be hard to pick themselves up and go to college or get a job. Keep your head high, you have made some great choices.

You're not a freak. You're you. You don't have to do things just because other people have done them. In absolutely no way does it set you behind those people. It just means that doing those sorts of things is not a part of your personality.

No your just a perfect person! Most high school people get tempted in doing drugs and they end up failing school, don't get a good job, or end up being homeless because they put their life to drugs. I'm never going to do any of these stuff ever because I want to become successful, plus think about the family and friends you harm when you do that stuff, plus you put yourself in a high risk. And I have had people tell me they wish they never used drugs because they ended up being homeless, and instead of being successful and having a career. Just keep up that good work!

it's your choice. and if you want to live this way and you're OK with that so ... OK.
you friends chose to try those things, you preferred not to.
I guess there's no "normal" and no "freaks", just the way things are.

There is NOTHING wrong with you, if so, then there is also something wrong with me.

If they did stuff like that in high school then it seems like they had more problems then you did, staying away from drugs and sex are clearly reasonable choices you made. There would never be something wrong with you because of an intelligent decision you make.
