so i have a problem. i have a professionally written resume with no spelling mistakes everything is in order and i had it edited by my english teacher. when i go out and apply for jobs i always dress in my best clothes and dont wear makeup as i prefer to look natural.
anyways i go around fill out applications and hand in my resumes but i never get a call back. what more could i do to increase my chances of getting a job and keeping it for that matter?

Where have you been applying?
Some places you simply shouldn't have a resume for as it appears to be overly professional. If you're applying at typical places that your average teenager would apply to, don't be surprised when you don't get the job - many others are applying for the same exact job as you are.

Yes, that can have a major effect on your chances. If you're applying at a place, they will most likely call your previous employers, even if you don't put it on your resume.

Were you fired for something you did, or was it just a redundancy?

i got fired before my probationary period was over because my manager claims i was too slow on the till so she said it wasnt working and she told me to go home and i havent been able to get a job since.

How's the economy in Canada? I know that with the stupid U.S. Economy in the hole, jobs are affected that way..............Try spicing up your resume with some fancy words to make little things seem a lot cooler. (ex. if someone was once a janitor, they sometimes call them Sanitary Engineers now).......um....Try wearing make-up. that seems shallow of someone not hiring you for looking bad or something, but when you apply for something, dress absolutely your best, including wearing makeup. Like Origami said, places like fast food, and retail like Aeropostale do not need resumes to apply. A filled out application for them are all they really look at, so don't worry about a resume with minor employers.

Im pretty sure if the U.S. Economy sucks (Or is that Greece?) the rest of the worlds economy will suck. It is harder to get a job these days but if you try hard enough you should be able too

No, don't do that. All that does is make you look like a fool, or someone who thinks more of themselves than they really are and flaunt that to the rest of the world. Arrogant might be a better word.
And nobody wants that, except the marketing department of Microsoft.
