So is there such a thing as hair consultation, where a professional hair stylist at a top of the line salon gives you a educated suggestion on what hairstyle you should have?

Also, how much would it cost to have one?

Any [I]decent[I] hair dresser/stylist should be able to give you an idea as to what would suit you, however, decent hair stylists will charge for their service. Generally, most people don't like paying over $100 for a hair cut.

However, if you are thinking of what Hollywood stars would have, they tend to have fashion consultants who cost thousands of dollars per year.

Pray tell, what is the point of this post?

Whenever I go to get my hair cut, which isn't often really at all. Actually, I haven't had my hair cut in over 2 years, so I'm not the best example. Regardless, when I've gotten my hair cut in the past, I've gone in with an idea, and they have said "You'd look better if we cut it like this: alksjdflakdjf" and gave me an idea.

They don't need to be expensive, most hairdressers will be able to tell you what will look and work best with your hair and features.
