So I have been watching all this WWDC 12 stuff on the internet and they showed new features for the MacBook Air, and I have been wanting a Mac for a while now, but there expensive, but thanks to two summer jobs, i'll be able to afford one by October. I bought a new cheap acer around that time last year and its fine but beginning to degrade. Or should I just by an iPad and save the money? I'd be using the Air for internet use and working on school work among other things. So what do you think I should do? Thanks.:)

Personally I would get the macbook pro, 13" it isnt much more. If you intend to use it for school or internet without a doubt I would NOT get the iPad...

A Macbook Pro would be better for school work, so i'd say go for the Macbook. An iPad is more for entertainment purposes only, but a laptop is good for entertainment AND education.

For school work and internet, the MBA is the way to go. It's actually, despite popular belief, faster at running programs such as Safari, or Microsoft Office/iWork '09.
It's also capable of running more demanding programs like Photoshop and Final cut pretty well, especially with the new performance boost.
I'd go with the MacBook Air myself, and happy shopping. :)

Yeah pretty much what everyone else has said. You should get the Macbook Air over the Ipad. It's portable and light (like the Ipad) but powerful enough to do everything you need.

If you're really deciding between just these two, MacBook. Now which type of MacBook is something I can't help with. I'm not Apple savy like a lot of the people on here, but I do know that iPads are nowhere near as good as a computer/laptop.

As The Shadow stated, the iPad is more for entertainment, like games and stuff. Not really for serious work like Office. You will feel really uncomfortable working on the iPad, for a long period of time. However the Macbook air now has a lot more processing power, so it's going to be able to do a lot more for you.
