Hey I've been cutting since about the start of this year and last month I told my younger brother what I do and then the next day he tells my mum and she goes skits and leaves the house for 6 hours. I was worried that she wouldn't return and now she sent me to the school counselor and it doesn't help and my friend suggested this because this week I had the urge to cut and I just don't know what to do. If it helps I'm in year seven.

It might help to be around people who have your problem who are also in year seven. You are not the only one. You and others worldwide have the same problem. You guys can talk and discuss how it's affected your life. Decide for yourself, how does it beneift me? It most likely doesn't, and if it doesn't, go to a psychologist and they will help you quit. It's that simple. You're family will be behind you as long as you want to quit. Do it for your family... do it for the world ;)

Well this site is full of teenagers your age and in your grade (And teenagers older than you who have been there and dealt with that) that are willing to help you. We are here to help support you through this.

I recommend sitting your mother down and talking with her. She would be a great start to a real-world support system. Directing her to a website specifically for mothers of children of self-harm might be a good start to doing so. This one in particular (http://www.education.com/reference/article/parents-need-know-self-injury/) would be wise. Explain to her why you do it after she reads over the article, and tell her you just want her support in this problem.

Ask your friends who know about it for the same support you've requested from your mom.

Start looking for distractions from this addiction. Start writing, get a hobby, anything that can help aid you.

Lastly, don't forget we are always here to help!

My mum found out when she saw me passed out in the bathroom while I was covered in blood. Ok. Second time I told her I do it she left the house for a day. Third time she just spoke about it with me. Last time she did found out she basically started shouting at me and just other stuff. Self-harm takes over your life and you do need to seek for help.
