When i enter Audacity it tells me what my mic is and that its connected and all that fun stuff. Then i press record and it starts recording after i hit stop and try to play it back it says"Error While Opening Sound Device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate". What does that mean and how can i fix it.

Oh god, I used to have this error. The way I fixed it was that I disabled the microphone, then I made it the default and default communications device and it suddenly worked. I don't think that might work for you, but you could try it, since it worked for me.

Well the mic is built into the computer it self. would that still work?

You don't have a lot of choice when the mic is inside the computer itself.

Just raid the microphone section of your PC's "computer panel" and try all options.

I don't use Audacity, so i'm not sure if the problem is this...but maybe you're using an unsupported sample rate.. What sample rate did you choose in Audacity?
Try to use a lower sample rate.

No problem. Laptop mics suck though, cheap Singstar ones are really good.

It wasnt that it sucked it was that it wouldnt work with audacity. I went into control panel and found out that i just needed to be set up for audacity. I would like a nice one but im not gonna invest in one until i get my own computer
