But...the technology in it is amazing!

Don't always believe Retina. My mum's iPhone 'Retina' is fine, but my iPod touch, if you squint enough you can make out the pixels. I wouldn't take it to heart anyway. Apple is always like that, once you buy a product you just need to block out all the crap until your Apple product dies and then you proceed to buy another.

Hey, anyway to get money is good for Apple.

Yea, it's 2220x1880. There's really no "squinting and seeing pixels on it."

I just hate Apple products, and yeah that's good resolution but they always do odd resolutions (i.e. 960x540 iPhone and 2220x1880 MacBook Pro). That really does no good for HD videos. If they are going to do resolutions make them the right way like HD (720x1280) and Full HD (1080x1920) not some odd number that is gonna cut off the picture or make there be black bars everywhere. That's my problem with "Retina" displays.

1. Thats nice to know. That isn't really necessary to the thread, but thats nice to know. I don't care.
2. It's funny that you complain about the resolution, because it's much higher than the HDTV that sits in your living room. :P
I don't know about you, but I think the more ppi/pixels in general, the better. I don't know why they should lower it at all.

I don't want them to lower the resolution at all, that's not my point. My point is that they use resolutions that make no sense to HD videos. If you watched an HD video on an HDTV, there would be no black bars, but if you did on say an iPhone, there would be black bars and the picture would be smaller that the full screen and on the iPhone's 3.5 inch tiny screen, you need all of the space to take advantage of the good resolution.

I think I know what you mean. But, I don't know, The retina display is all about quality.
You've stumped me there. :P
But, I'll be an annoying prick and stick with lusting the 15" Retina Display in the new MacBook Pro.

1880p huh? Well then, playing a 1080p HD video would be small on this.

No, seriously. It's people like you that Apple likes the most.

I'm not going to buy a Mac just because it has retina display. I don't need that in a laptop. That technology would be better in a TV than a laptop. I think it's pointless in a laptop.

It would be pretty pointless in a TV as well.
At the distances the average person watches TV (Assuming you've bought the correct TV size for your room), the resolution of the human eye itself would have an incredibly hard time telling the difference between a 1080p HDTV, and a Retina display.
The same holds true for Retina displays in the MacBook, and for Retina displays in the iPhone.
At the average distance users hold these devices from their face, it's next to impossible for the human eye to tell the difference between Retina, and say a Super AMOLED+ screen in a phone, or a LED edgelit 1080p LCD screen in a laptop. It's pretty much just that simple.
Not to mention the fact that it has a non-standard aspect ratio. Meaning, virtually no video today would 'fit' the screen. And with Mac users being such a minority (And Retina users being even more of a minority), no one would make videos to 'fit' the Retina resolution. It's simply not worth the effort.

A retina display, is a display with pixels so close to each other, that the retina in your eye can't tell them individually.

*At a distance of 10 inches or more. (In the iPhones case at least, I admit I haven't read in-depth the specs of the MacBook's Retina display, but I would imagine it's probably further than that.)

I'm glad I waited, put in the order for the new retina macbook pro last night, unfortunately the "Ships in 2-3 days" has changed to 2-3 weeks... I'm already impatient enough!

My word to everyone:
Thats nice that you don't like apple, not everyone has to.
I completely respect the rest of the PC industry, and I'm just sharing my lust over the new high quality display in the next generation of MacBook Pros.
I don't care if I pay more for the product, because from a design standpoint, there is a difference over standard and retina. I don't watch movies- I dont get compressed images when working on them in photoshop. If I ever get the money, I'm most likely to get this notebook over the "cheap HP over at Best Buy".
Evidently, I cant handle this well (other things are bringing me down as well), so I'm done with this.
Thank You. :)
