For me, songs are not bad (Especially Firework and Part of Me) though her vocal abilities leave a little to be desired, especially live.

I don't like her music (used to until California gurls) but as a person she seems alright. Right now, it seems she just squeezing every album dry of hits.

I really don't like pop in general, and Katy Perry is no exception. The songs are formulaic and repetitive, and the lyrics are somewhat shoddy. The singing, as you pointed out, leaves a little to be desired, but I actually think that she would sound better without the ridiculous amounts of auto-tune that they slap onto the recording.

Katy Perry's songs- all of them are severely overplayed, and overworked. Most of her songs she can't even sing live! Made a HUGE mistake of marrying Russel Brand, and divorced him a year and a half later. Made a appearance on Sesame Street in a very controversial sun dress... Not to mention her, um... well... Naked cotton candy cloud music video. All in all she has not made a name for herself in my book.

She's no Whitney Houston or Celine Dion but that's kind of harsh; she knows how to play the guitar and piano, along with writing almost every hit song that she has :/
