I'm just wondering if this happens to others. I have started to see my depression weakening my friendships. I feel so guilty for this happening. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes, actually. If the friend is really worth it, but can't handle to see you upset any longer, simply putting on a face can save them from avoiding you.

Yeah, when I'm pretty much always down my friends tend to give up on me, putting on a happy face is the best option as long as you're venting and letting it out elsewhere. Though it can be hard there aren't really other options, it's probably because they don't know how to react and how to help you when you're depressed. I can understand that because they are uneducated on what to do they tend to avoid the situation.

Like the poster above me said, if you put on a happy face, make sure that you're venting it elsewhere. It would be very bad if you kept it all in. Also, if any of your friends are very close to you, let them know that you're just going through whatever it is you're going through, and not to worry too much about you. It might make them feel a bit better that you trust them with this. I know it's hard, but we have to do hard stuff, right? In an attempt to find ourselves, we have to make so many mistakes, but yet, we never make too many mistakes if we're just trying to find ourselves.
