Book Idea...?

I've had this idea for a series for a while, and today thought during the series if it might be interesting to delve into the mind of one of the villains in a single book, like detailing his life, thoughts, etc. Problem that comes to mind is making it not, ah, overly morbid and offputting (since it's a villain--probably the most evil villain I've ever come up with.) What do you guys think?

I always tend to think the villains are more interesting than everyone else, so I think that's probably something I'd enjoy!
