View Full Version : Moderation for Avatars?

So, it's rather annoying when people (mostly new members) have very triggering/inappropriate avatars, because there is no way those would pass moderation. Triggering avatars are actually worse than triggering pictures in albums, because you have to actively go to the album to see anything whereas an avatar shows up wherever the person posts.
I understand that requiring avatars to pass moderation would be adding to the work that mods need to do, but also think it should be considered.

When you say "triggering" I know what you mean by the word triggering. What would be the specs of example of a "triggering Avatar".

I don't even think that's possible, however, just report it to a gmod. Normal mods can't moderate or delete them, whilst gmods can so I would tell them. I don't think it's that big of an issue to warrant moderation of that sort.

Triggering avatars? Would you please explain a bit more? Because I haven't really noticed this. If you'd like to report some, feel free to send me, or any other senior staff member, a PM and it will be handled.

If you have a problem with an avatar, report it to a staff member but as far as I know, every triggering avatar we've seen that has been a problem has been handled very quickly. I can say this because I personally have handled a few in the past.
I don't see a need for us to make it so avatars must be moderated, nor do I see these triggering avatars you're speaking of. But if you truly have an issue, PM a staff member or report one of the users posts and just include in the report that you have a problem with their avatar.

If one offends anyone or is just down right wrong, report it. Moderators have much more important things to handle than every 120x120 picture a user wants as an avatar.

This is way too subjective. I could make my avatar an innocent gif that says "I love my daddy" and someone who got raped by their father might find that triggering. The problem with triggers is that many of them are specific to a person's experiences (which are often unique in some way). If you have a problem, just report it. I don't think that avatars should be strictly moderated though.

If I recall correctly trying to delete photos or avatars from a users profile as a regular mod was possible but a complete bitch to try and accomplish. Most of the time I would PM the members asking them to edit it or use something else and they were compliant. I saw/see a lot in P101 though, but honestly trying to track down one members photo among 400+ yellow faced no names can be pretttttttty difficult and time consuming.

This doesn't make much sense to be implicated, nor is it easily possible under the functions of vBulletin. I suggest that, as with posts, if you find offensive material you should report it to a moderator where it will be handled swiftly.
Elaborate your point.
If you're going to suggest someone shouldn't post pointlessly, don't go ahead and post even more pointlessly.
