View Full Version : Going away for a week

So I'm going to camp for a week. I want to bring my instrument just in case I need it. Social situations around people I don't know is probably my biggest trigger, and I don't want to feel lost without it. I'm worried about someone finding out, though.
Like, this one time, I went to the library. They have these metal detectors that go off if you steal a book or carry in a weapon. I had my razor in my pocket and it set off the alarm. The lady let me go thankfully, figuring I probably had keys in my bag or something. I never bring my razor to the grocery store for this same reason...
Do you imagine they'll have any of these at this camp? It's an outdoorsey type of place, but they may have security measures. We're not even supposed to bring in cell phones. Should I risk bringing my razor? I'm not saying I'm going to cut, but I'd probably feel a lot better just knowing I had it with me.

I don't think that they would have metal detectors or anything like that, but they might look through your bag. I really don't know what to say to this about the razor though. I don't think that you should bring it, but if you HONESTLY think that you need it, then please just be careful.

I doubt they'll have anything like that at camp, however just in case they do, I wouldn't bring it. It's only a week and you can use that time to try and stop self harming, it won't be easy but camp will probably end up distracting you and before you know it you won't have cut. Yes, it's going to be a social situation and yes you're going to be triggered but, you'll get passed that. Have faith in yourself you can go without it.

If I were you I would take this as a chance to try and stop self harming for a little while. Don't take them with you, as to not risk that there might be safety percations they take, and see how well you do. You might even surprise yourself in not having needed them anyways.

I wouldn't take it I know it'll be really difficult but that may be a good way to start surrounded by people in a place full of distractions. Think about it even if they didn't find your blade, what are the chances you'd be able to find somewhere private, and be able to clean yourself up and keep yourself coveredcompletely all week with no one realising. Just try and leave it at home?

Leave it at home, they might search your bag thoroughly, as others have said it's a chance to help stop your self harm. Best of luck to you.

They probably won't have metal detectors, but like Eric said they may search your bag. I wouldn't bring your blade if I were you. Take this as a chance to stop, at least for a while. And like Louise said, it'll be difficult to keep the cuts clean and covered for the entire week.
It will be hard, but you can get through this.

I would try not to take your blade with you. Like Alex said this could be a chance to stop. But if you feel that it is absolutely necessary to bring one, then do it. But personally I would say don't bring it if you are trying to stop.
