People always assume that because i cut and am suicial that i have to do drugs. People always ask me if i smoke, the answer is No. All i do is pills.
Does anyone else feel this way?

People tend to assume lots of things, they look at stereotypes to get a generalization and usually they're wrong. If you haven't seen it already there is a Misconceptions about Self Harm (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showpost.php?p=881380&postcount=1) thread. It's usually that people think this because they don't understand, people don't know much about self harm, usually they just like it to emo's and being suicidal so I can see where you're coming from. If they need help realising what self harm is then I suggest you print out that thread or look up on the internet some websites that could help and show it to them. It might give them a better idea of what you're going through and feeling.
You're not alone in thinking this way though, people just need to be educated on the topic, like most things.

I'm sorry, but liken* and emos*
Now... she's absolutely right. People don't understand it. Hell, we don't understand it. So of course they are going to have some misconceptions. And to be fair, a lot of cutters do smoke. The point is that you really should just remember that they're being ignorant.

It's easy to link self harm to other things like that, does it make it correct? No, but it does actually apply to some people. I smoke, used to cut and so I do see how people can come up with that generalisation. To be honest with you, if it's bothering you even know you know it's not true, you have to find out within yourself why it's bothering you.

People who have never done it before (And even those who have done it, but did it for the wrong reasons) won't usually understand. All they see is someone hurting themselves intentionally and it just doesn't make sense. They start to come up with every explaination in the book as to why we do it and come up with every idea as to what else we do. In their eyes, if we hurt ourselves we probably don't just stop there. It's human nature. It sucks.

Well people know I do pills, so they assume I cut. Don't pay attention to what anyone says or thinks

when I used to cut, my biggest hate was that people used to call me pathetic and tell me that I was looking for attention.
