So yesterday night while I was at a party hosted for me which was celebrating my going away to South America for the next few months for volunteer work I was backing up my old contacts list from my old phone. When it finally finished I checked through all my contacts just to make sure that none were missing. Fortunately, none were but I had a few extra add on. One of them was a girl who I was friends with for a while but after an issue occurred we stopped talking and agreed to delete each other's numbers.
Now, I felt kind of nostalgic in that moment and I decided to write her this message:
"Hey, (name) I found your number in my phone and decided I'd send you a text before I leave for South America in the morning. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for whatever I did to make us stop talking and I hope you have a great summer. This is (name) by the way."
Her reply back?:
"Delete my number and never talk to me again. Bye."
Harsh much? And it stung all the worse considering for a long time I had some pretty strong feelings for her. I was pretty distraught in that moment and I replied back with.
"Alright, I guess. Like I said I'm sorry for whatever I did. Best of luck."
I don't know why but I want to try and reclaim my friendship with her despite those sharp words. How on Earth do I achieve that considering the current circumstances? If it's impossible please just be up front and tell me that but I was wondering if anyone had some creative ideas.
