Ok well I'm asking of gay can run through the family because my dads brother is gay....so is my sister....and I am gay.....I personally think that gay can run through the family, but scientists still have never found a gay gene?
could all be in my head?
see my sister told me this once.
when a women has children and majority of them are males....eventually the women's body will react to the youngest male as if it were a female and the it will come out more feminem and I'm the youngest and I'm gay?
could this be true....was I born gay? Because I remember having feelings for guys since I was really young like 5...

There isn't a gay gene, it's just a coincidence. However, you can be born gay.

You're half right on the birth order thing.
What happens is after enough children, the mother's immune system more prepared for the 'foreign object' it sees, and will therefore attack it more vigorously than it did before, increasing the chance of it changing the chemistry of the developing fetus' brain, making it more feminine (As far as it's sex-drive is concerned). As far as I know, this only holds true for right-handed males, not for females or left-handed males.

There is not, however, a 'gay gene' or anything like that. Not confirmed at least.

There might be...there are scientists still trying to work out the gene that is mainly suspect for it...Xq28 (meaning the x-sex chromosome form the mother which is placed on the q arm 28th section)

I actually looked it up a while ago when I was questioning and then came back to it this year. I am like a DNA nerd kind of so I still want to find out more about it

this link tells about Xq28 ("The Gay Gene"):

1) There is no psychological explanation for homosexuality
2) Society tells you it is not a choice, but science does not back it up (it's simply political correctness)
3) In studies done on identical twins (who share 100% of their genetics) who were raised apart since birth it has been found that only 50% of the time they are both gay
4) There is a so-called "gay" gene, but this gene has been found in those who are not gay and some that are gay do not posses this gene (gene Xq28).

In short, there is no evidence that being homosexual is genetic or that it is a product of hormones before birth. There is also no conclusive evidenece to support that it is a product of culture, upbringing, or any other circumstance.

In short, nobody has any definite answers.

Well I am the first born, so in my case we can toss out that youngest male theory.

I wonder if the Xq28 has to combine with some other gene to have a "trigger effect" to make the kid gay. Because something happened to me during the start of puberty to get things going. I didn't all of a sudden wake up one morning and say, "I'm gay now, what's for breakfast?"

Love that quote.

Well if you google "XY gene" (what makes a male a male) there is an interesting theory which says:

For a long time we thought that SRY would activate a cascade of male genes. It turns out that the sex determination pathway is probably more complicated and SRY (Sex-determining Region of the Y chromosome) may in fact inhibit some anti-male genes.

Technically it's xY because x is recessive and Y is dominant. You either get x or Y, determining your gender.

Anyways, I don't think it does, but I don't know. Coincidence? Maybe. It's hard to tell.

It is a trigger gene cause it isn't the only one that has effect cause then all gay people would have Xq28 and it comes from the X chromosome you get from your mom...

There are still no evidence that can confirm that this gene causes a person to be gay .
It's some how a coincidence but it's mostly affected by the environment
And I think that environmental changes through freedom of speech , gay marriage and acceptance of homosexuals as a part of the family might have an increase on the number of people who accept their homosexuality although the population of homosexual people won't change

My grandmother had 5 children 3 were gay. I am bisexual, my sister is a lesbian, and one of my brothers is gay. So, I think it can be genetic. Also, some studies show that it happens with birth. So my answer is YES.

It probably does

As stated in the posts above there is some evidence that agrees that there could be a 'gay gene'. My friend who is gay also has a brother who is gay but the thing is it could just be coincidence that they both are as they also have a sister who is straight. I personally don't know but I know that whatever they're their born that way and that's all that matters. :P
