This news is local to me, but I want to inform all of you.

(06/04/12) PORT WASHINGTON - A little boy is recovering after his family says he was mauled by a dog on a Port Washington school playground.

The parents of 6-year-old Andrew Esposito just filed a $30 million lawsuit against the owners, claiming the Labrador mix knocked the boy down and viciously attacked him. The family says Andrew lost part of his ear in the attack.

The Espositos say the incident happened back on May 18 while Andrew was playing at John Philip Sousa Elementary School. They say the animal, named Archie, is known around the neighborhood as vicious.

The suit says there are several signs prohibiting dogs on school grounds.

The owners of the dog, doctors Michael and Deborah Levine, declined to talk to News 12 Long Island. A neighbor says they are upstanding people and that the dog doesn't seem vicious at all.

I think that they have the right to sue, but $30 million is overkill. The kid did get prety badly scarred, and will be for a long time.
What do you say? Opinions?

This is sad and plastic surgery might be needed, so i guess the parents are preparing for this.

I'm calling gold diggers. Sick, they would use their own son to make money.

I think that they are suing for too much, but I feel bad for that poor kid. He'll need plastic surgery if he's ever going to look normal.

$30 million is way more than necessary.

It's not sick. This is the legal process at work. On top of that, none of you know the full extent of the boy's injuries, and 30 million dollars might be for plastic surgery AND physical/mental therapy for the poor kid.
