ok so on the old boot drive of my computer I had my firefox up with all my bookmarks, but the old drive couldn't install windows onto it, had to run from cd, so I put new HDD into C: and then i installed windows, and i have the old drive still in the computer under different name. Now how can I retrieve my bookmarks and import them into firefox from the old hard drive? I never backed up the bookmarks but bookmarks should be saved in a folder, probably inside the Mozilla folder in Program Files right?

This question on the Mozilla Firefox Help forums might help:
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/833585

It says that they're stored in a file, so you'll need to find this file and open it accordingly.

Also, i'd recommend Google Chrome, since it synchronizes your bookmarks and extensions to your google account, and when you log in another browser, through another computer or through a re install, they all come back :).

Your bookmarks are saved in your user folder. Otherwise, every account on that computer would have the same bookmarks, history, theme, etc.
Instead, browse to your former user folder(on Windoze 7, that is [old drive letter]:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[the folder with random letters and numbers], and copy that folder to the desktop, for now.
Then, go to that folder on the main drive, and back up those files. This is important, just in case Firefox doesn't like the new files.
Copy all the files you just put on the desktop to the AppData folder. Make sure you don't just copy the folder itself. For example, if some files look like:

C:\Users\thomas\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vevcb938c3rv.default\co okies.sqlite
D:\Users\thomas\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\163nvbb3bd8b4.default\c ookies.sqlite

make sure that the folder name on the C: drive does not change.

Good luck, it can seem daunting. :)

Suggesting the OP use something else is counter-productive. The OP was not looking for a different browser, just a way to restore his bookmarks. Kind of rude, don't you think?

I didn't say he was. I merely responded to his question and made a recommendation. So no, I wouldn't say it was "kind of rude."

You were basically implying "yeah, you use that. but use this because it's better for x reasons".

I still answered the question. Consider the third paragraph a bonus.
