Is there something I can do?
What are the criteria?
What gets you to select someone from the job openings section when they apply?
Can a regular mod ban or lock threads in other sections?
What is the difference between a mod and a global mod?
How do you become an admin?
How do you become a global mod?
When will you open new positions? I would like to apply :)

Sorry for all the questions :P I'm just really curious about this :)

Is there something I can do? Don't ask to be a moderator.
They are chosen out of how they demonstrate their skill, respect, knowledge, etc... on certain topics.
What are the criteria?
There are really none that are set in stone. Be active in the forums, make helpful posts, report posts which break the rules, don't backseat moderate, dnt tlk like dis, that sort of thing.
What gets you to select someone from the job openings section when they apply? Everything that was previously mentioned.
Can a regular mod ban or lock threads in other sections? Regular forum mods can only moderate in their specified forums.
What is the difference between a mod and a global mod? Global Mods and Admins are on the "senior staff." They moderate all parts of the forum, and are in charge of bigger decisions, banning members, etc..
How do you become an admin? You are choesn.
How do you become a global mod? You are chosen.
When will you open new positions? You will see openings in the VT Volunteer Job Openings Board, or be privately contacted.
Sorry for all the questions :P I'm just really curious about this :)

We usually choose new Moderators from the Job Opening forums located here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34). Do not request to become a Moderator, since that will lower your chances but not completely diminish them. You get hired as a section Moderator, and then you can get promoted from there on depending on performance and need. Depending on how your application seems, and how we feel your posting and prominence on the forum is. If we feel you are right for the job, we might hire you.
A regular moderator can lock threads in the section they are hired for, and can freeze members who are doing wrong and leave them for a Global or Admin to take care of.
A regular Moderator is by sections, and Global Moderators are seen as Senior Staff and have access to all sections of the forum along with Admins.
Admins and Global Moderators are promoted to these positions, but more so Global than Admin, you will rarely see a changing in Admin/Global Mods.
New positions come when we see the need for more Moderators, when one retires or gets promoted and a position opens. We won't always post new applications, sometimes if we find someone we think is fit for the position we will privately contact you to offer the position.

Thanks :) don't get me wrong here... I am not asking to become a moderator! I will apply when a position is open and hopefully my post count will be high enough...
What must the post count be by the way to become a mod?
Thanks for the answers again... Really helped me :)

Some don't require any post count.

When a position is announced then usually it will come with a set of requirements.

We don't look at post count simply because some members might post souly in places that don't give counts, while others don't. Back when I was hired as a Moderator, my post count was far below what most was. It's just by whether or not you qualify.

If you need 83 to become a mod than why do you need 100 to pm anybody?

There is a 100 post requirement for PMs for your own safety and the safety of others here. This way, pedophiles or the like cannot just sign up here, and immediately start harassing members. The same goes for people who come here to advertise, sell things, etc... It's just for your own benefit here. If you want to PM so badly, make good posts, and you'll be at 100 soon enough. Don't spam your way there though, that'll get the mod's attention.
And I don't think there has ever been a time when a mod was appointed, except maybe when the site was first founded, who had under 100 posts.
