I'll cut to the chase. I've been seeing a counselor for about two months now once every week and every time I'm there I just lie, I cannot tell the truth. I try so hard but the classic "I'm fine" comes out. So, does anyone have any ideas on how I can be honest with him?

You have to convince yourself that you want to get better for yourself, not to hide the truth anymore. If you struggle to say it to him you could write a letter? He will appreciate you being honest and it will benefit you in the long run. Good luck:)

Relax and think of it as something to make you feel better..

If he's a counselor, I'm sure he already knows that "I'm fine" really means, "I need help."
Aside from that, you can try to write him a letter or note, like Fran said. The "awkwardness" is slightly removed, so you can discuss things easier.
