I just want to know because i dont want to make this mistake and get banned, is it okay if i ask someone for an aim/msn email in a visitor message? Or should i just tell them to add me? Let me know because i dont want to make that mistake

You put the details in the predefined fields on your profile (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/profile.php?do=editprofile#tb_homepage), and people will contact you if they want to.
Or, if you can Private Message others, you can use that. Be careful: abuse of these features will lead to a ban.

Also if you are going to ask people for off the site contact info via pm, make sure you have spoken to them rather a lot as if you are caught sending random pm's asking for off the site contact info then it could lead to being banned.

Like Thomas said you can set your off the site contact information via UCP. That is the most effective manner and is the best to ensure everything is above bored. You can also customize it so that only certain people see it. This will avoid having random pm attempt to contact you off site.
