I have a massive weight loss aim.

I want to loose 50kg (110lbs) in 12 months. Is my goal too high? Or should I have a smaller goal, and lead up to the 50kg?

At the moment, my blood pressure is really good, but I am worried about the long term. I have been severely overweight for as long as I can remember, and the weigh in at the blood bank really opened my eyes. I got on the scales and they said 170kgs (374lbs).

I am a fairly big built guy anyway (big ribcage etc.) and I am fairly tall (6 foot 4), will 120kg (260lbs) be too light for my height?

Also, does anyone have any tips to loosing weight? I think I need as much help as possible to achieve my goal.

Thanks for your advice =)

Maybe you should aim for a lower goal over a 6 month period then if you achieve it, go onto the higher? If you want to know what a healthy weight is, go on to a BMI checker, there are plenty online and the NHS one is pretty accurate. If you want to loose weight healthily, eat healthy and exercise, it is the best way without going to extremes. Find a work out program that works for you and combine that with healthy eating (salads etc) and hopefully you will reach your goal, good luck!

BMI calculators are moronic. If you're in good physical shape with an overall muscular build the damn thing will call you obese. I'm 5'11 and 1/2 and weigh in at approximately 210 lbs. Funny thing is my body fat is below 10% (I workout) but when I get on a BMI calculator I'm overweight at least. Sad but true, BMI calculators are stupid as hell.

OP: No one can determine the amount of weight you'll lose if you actively workout for a year. I've seen guys lose from ranges from between 30 and 120 lbs. 260 is a good bodyweight for you if it is maintains a low body fat percentage. Body fat is really the thing which determines how much of you truly is muscle and how much isn't.
