Depending on how you bring it up, yes :P. If it's randomly out of the blue it's quite weird, just try to get then casually talking and slip in something about sex and continue on till you get the answer you need.

From within my friendship group, i find that girls are more than willing to talk about sex, masturbation etc. but they're less open as to whether they do masturbate or not. Whereas guys on the other hand really dont care haha.

Chances are that your friends that are girls do masturbate but who knows.
