Help me add a conflict!

So I'm writing a new part to my story. This guy hasn't spoken to his girlfriend in awhile. He has no idea why she isn't talking to him, and he also doesn't know that she has a problem on her hands...

So, what's the problem? Frankly, I can't think of anything that it could be, however I know a few things it isn't:
~She's not pregnant.
~She's not a lesbian. Or bisexual.

So I ask of you all to think of a problem for her. Also, note that she is a troublemaker who used to live in the inner city.

1. She has a fatal illness and is about to die.
2. A family member has a fatal isness and is about to die.
3. She's a vampire.
4. She's being hunted by a gang wanting revenge on her/being bounty hunted
5. Has to go back to the city for somthing of importance
6. .... ran out of ideas :D :P

[Thunderstorm]

-She was brutally murdered when walking home from a date one night and thrown in the woods and she has no family.
-Kidnapped and is being held hostage until the BF gives Ransom
-She was actually an spy from a foreign country trying to gain info on the current life in America

Whoa... Um, this is a realistic fiction story. Shoulda mentioned that.

A realistic fiction? She saw someone get killed before she moved out of the inner city and now the people who killed him/her are looking for her and she doesn't want him to get involved. :)

She was kidnapped by an inner city gang--perhaps a rival gang that she had been part of when she was younger?

Not sure on the age of these characters but,
She could have slept with someone else
She could be depressed
She could have found out something about his past
She could have been in some form of accident and could be comatose/dead (whichever you like better)
