It's either Ant (Maverick) or Ronnie (Scarface) who owns and pays for it.

If I remember correctly, Ant never gave up ownership of VT when he left, just the head admin position. If so, then it's to be assumed that he continues to support VT financially and behind the scenes to an extent. Sort of a "guardian angel" like presence.
But I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me Ronnie.

Isn't it James and the rest of the board of directors paying for it, since this forum is part of the GovTeen network?

No, it is a part of the network, but it is paid separte from GovTeen, pretty sure that would be an expensive bill if they paid for all those sites.

Well, I mean Jack (the head admin from Teen Crossroads, and an old member from here) said that Ricky, who is a board member for the network, paid for it, and since VT is part of the GovTeen network, I say it's logical that the network pays for the vBulletin licence and/or server.

Plus it's a non-profit (.org) and a help site, so it usually wouldn't cost a lot to keep it going. And it is part of the GovTeen network, so that may mean something too, but I am not sure.

I thought about it for a little while (I was pretty much told everything about the server at TCR before it went wonky), and this is what I came up with:
It falls under what's being paid for what. The website owner itself owns the server (aka the computer), BUT the Network pays for vBulletin which allows the forum to be active and have the forum interface.
So Jack owns the computer that TCR is storaged on, but the Board owns the licence to TCR's vBulletin interface and domain.
Sound reasonable to everyone?

That is all handled by our administration and a past administrator or two. To my knowledge Ant, Maverick, handles that and owns the domain name, but I could be wrong.

I know, but who's handing out the $400 vBulletin licences? That's what I'm confused about.

Pretty sure the past administrators paid for it.

Every time this has been asked it has been pointed that Ant owns and supports VT financially, not the GovTeen network. At the end of the day though, it doesn't matter who pays for it, it only matter that it is in fact being paid for.

I currently own VT. I'm its second owner. The previous owner Sam Alexander passed away in March of 2007 and I've owned it ever since. There's a small story on the homepage here also http://www.virtualteen.org/topics/about/story/
Ever since Sam passed, past administrators and myself had to maintain the costs to keep VT going. Kiros and redcar had made sure vBulletin was paid for along with the popular addons like the blog and the shoutbox. Its thanks to them that VT has a lifetime vB license so that there aren't any new vBulletin costs unless the admins decide to upgrade the version at a later date.
The only costs now that come up are the domain name and webhosting. I pay those yearly and monthly. Those have been paid for primarily by me although for several months in the past when I was in a jam redcar helped me pay them. VT doesn't make me go broke by any means but seeing the impact it makes and the help it provides makes it worth it.
